2026 Election Information
Candidates for state and federal offices must file with the office of the Secretary of State in Jefferson City. Filing Fees are paid to the candidate’s political party, and a paid receipt from the party is required by the Secretary of State. The Secretary of State will also require a form 5120 for state candidates. This form verifies that all your taxes have been paid, and it can be filled out and notarized at the Department of Revenue. A photo ID is also required when filing. Filing opens February 24, 2026 and ends on March 31, 2026.

US Congress Requirements:
- At least 25 years of age
- Citizen of US for 7 years
- Resident of Missouri
- Filing Fee: $300 for Congress
State Offices:
- State Auditor (Scott Fitzpatrick)
Requirements:
State Auditor:
- At least 30 years of age
- US Citizen for 15 years
- Missouri Resident at least 10 years
- $500 Filing Fee
- Not convicted of a felony
State Senate and State Representatives:
- State Senate District 2 (Nick Schroer)
- State Senate District 4 (Karla May)
- State Senate District 14 (Brian Williams)
- State Senate District 22 (Mary E. Coleman)
- State Senate District 24 (Tracy McCreery)

- At least 30 years of age
- Qualified Missouri voter for 3 years
- Resident of the district to represent
- $300 Filing Fee
- Not convicted of a felony
State Representative:
- At least 24 years of age
- Qualified Missouri voter for 2 years
- Resident of the district to represent
- $150 Filing Fee
- Not convicted of a felony

District resident for 1 year, resident of St. Louis County for 2 years, Filing Fee: $100
Candidates for county offices must file at the office of the Board of Election Commissioners at 725 Northwest Plaza, St. Ann, MO, 63074 for the August 4th Primary Election. A paid receipt from the St. Louis County LP Central Committee for the filing fee is required by the Board of Elections. They will no longer accept checks.
